Historical Event  Project dates to remember:

January 23-February 3: Students should be working on their “News Broadcast” at home. Parents, follow the guideline sheet for the presentation requirements.  There is a link on the left side of this blog with the grading rubric and requirements for this project can be located.

February 6-10: Students will show their presentations in front of the class, or show the recorded videos that were done at home.

Week 22

We will be doing a lot of work on our News Broadcast project this week. Here is a reminder of dates for the project:

January 12-20: Bring research from home, and start searching and writing the information on their sheet. Writing will be done at school, so it is essential for the research to be here. 

This week’s assignment:
January 23-February 3: Students should be working on their “News Broadcast” at home. Parents, follow the guideline sheet for the presentation requirements.

February 6-10: Students will show their presentations in front of the class, or show the recorded videos that were done at home.

If your child has signed up for the Research Challenge, the first brown bag lunch will be on Wednesday.

Week 21

Week 20


  • Dry Creek is scheduled for mid-year DIBELS testing on Tuesday this week, we encourage all students to be in attendance that day. 
  • We will have a special guest, on Wednesday, to help us launch our next language arts project. Students will be putting together and presenting a “news cast”, featuring an event from history.
  • There will be no school on January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Week 19

Welcome Back!
We hope you have all had a wonderful break and are ready to get back to learning.

  • This month we will be starting are mid-year testing on the SAGE and DIBELS.  
  • We want to encourage students to keep up on their reading at home, spelling word practice and IXL skills. 
  • Don't forget to dress warmly on these snowy days!

Week 18

The weather is cold. Inside recess is called when it feels like it's 20 degrees or less, so please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

We will have a presentation by the people from the Bean Museum on Wednesday.
Our class parties will be on Thursday.

Christmas vacation begins this week! Thursday will be the last day of school. We will return on  Tuesday, January 3rd.

Please encourage your child to read throughout Christmas vacation.

December 15 - Alice in Christmas Land evening performance 6:30. $5 per person or    $20 per family

Spirit Day Friday:  Please encourage your student to wear their Dry Creek Owl shirts every Friday.  The class with the most participation will win prizes or treats each month.
