Week 37

Another year has come and gone way too fast!  As a third grade team, we want to thank you for checking this blog each week and keeping up with all of our activities, events, and homework.  This has been another great year of learning and fun! We want to wish everyone good luck and best wishes as they enter 4th grade next year.  We all hope everyone has a wonderful, extraordinary summer!

May 19: 9:45 and 12:45 Dance festival. Wear modest beach or Hawaiian attire. The dress code will still be enforced. Options: boys – swim shorts and T-shirt, girls – shorts and T-shirt or swim dress, all – Hawaiian shirt, lei. Whatever you have is great. You don’t need to go buy anything.

May 23: Field day for Hanson and Rasmussen

May 24: Field day for Terry, Burton, Yerkes

Both field days will be from 10:00-11:20 and 1:00-2:00.

May 26: Last day of school 8:00-9:30 early birds, 9:15-10:45 later gators

May 10: Chick-fil-a night

*May 11: Camp-a-thon (camping themed read-a-thon). Wear your camping clothes.

  • May 11: Camp-a-thon (camping themed read-a-thon). Wear your camping clothes.

Week 34

We’re working hard on our biographies and enjoying learning about the people we’ve chosen to study! If your child doesn’t have research, please help him/her get it. Biography.com is a great place to find information. This is an in-school project, so all the kids need to do at home is get information.

April 28 (Friday): Walk-a-thon all parents are invited to come watch and support your walkers/runners for this event. Please don't forget to have your student fill out their donation lap sheets for this upcoming event this Friday. Each student should have received forms and information from their teacher last week. We hope to see you there!

Week 32

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a wonderful break! We’re ready to finish our school year strong!

Dibels testing and spring pictures will be on April 19.

  • Hey parents we are starting our next project. We are working on a historical/famous biographies. We just need your student to bring in a picture and information on your person of choice.  
  • Please bring in information by Friday the 14th.  The only requirement is the  person of choice has to be dead at least 20 years.

Week 31


  • The Research Challenge Evening of Recognition will be on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:00. It will be best dress in the gym.  Family and Friends are invited to attend.
  • Spring Break will be April 3-7.
  • Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night will be April 5th.
  • The last day to turn in box tops for this month will be March 30th.
  • We are still looking for anyone that has some mad mash-up skills and can help us put a few songs together for our upcoming dance festival. If you would be willing to help us please contact one of the 3rd-grade teachers.

Week 30

The Re
We will take the opinion/persuasive portion of our Sage test on Tuesday and Wednesday during early bird/later gator times. It is critical that your children be on time for school on those days. Please help your children by making sure they get a good night sleep and a good breakfast. 

The Research Challenge Evening of Recognition will be on March 29 at 6:00.

Spring break will be April 3-7.

Chick-fil-A Spirit Night will be April 5.

Week 28


  • Battle of the Books is taking place this week, March 7-10.
  • The week of March 20-24 we will begin Sage testing. Please try to make arrangements to have your student there this week ready to go with a good nights sleep and a good breakfast that morning. Thank you for your support!
  • March 29 at 6:00 pm will be the night of recognition for research challenge participants.  Each participant will be given a medal and a certificate acknowledging their hard work. 
  • Just a reminder to keep working on your homework, reading and IXL skill every week.

Week 25

We’re looking forward to our Valentine’s parties, on the 14th! If your child would like to bring a Valentine box from home, he or she can. We won’t be making them at school.

The PTA is putting in another school shirt/hoodie order. The deadline to order is Feb. 15.   T-shirts are $7.00, hoodies are 18.00.

Our grade level storytelling competition will be February 17.

There will be no school on February 20, in honor of President’s Day.

February 22 is Hang Time Day.  The cost is $8.00 per person for 2 hours of jumping and a slice of pizza.

We are looking for anyone that has the skill to help us mix up and mash up some 60's songs for our dance festival in the spring.  Please contact your student's teacher if you are willing to help us out.

Week 24

Reminders of dates for News Report:

February 6-10: Students will show their presentations in front of the class, or show the recorded videos that were done at home. We have enjoyed the news reports that have already been presented!

Parent teacher conferences are this Wednesday and Thursday. If you have not signed up for a conference yet, please do so.

Week 20


  • Dry Creek is scheduled for mid-year DIBELS testing on Tuesday this week, we encourage all students to be in attendance that day. 
  • We will have a special guest, on Wednesday, to help us launch our next language arts project. Students will be putting together and presenting a “news cast”, featuring an event from history.
  • There will be no school on January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
